Waste management is a crucial component of modern infrastructure. Proper management of solid waste at landfills protects the quality of the local water supply, and ensures that our cities can stay clean and safe. Since landfills can receive a high volume of transport vehicles traffic, effective trackout controls are necessary to contain sediment and debris which would otherwise be deposited on roadways and enter storm drains.
Similar to construction sites, which require temporary Vehicle Tracking Control BMPs, industrial sites also require Vehicle Tracking Controls which are installed on a permanent basis. On these long term applications, the benefits of installing effective, maintainable, and cost efficient solutions are compounded over time. Landfill operators can choose a variety of Vehicle Trackout Control BMPs including traditional aggregate based construction entrances, Wheel Wash systems, steel plates (rumble plates), FODS Trackout Control System or a combination of these techniques.
Due to the high volume of traffic, safety is a primary consideration on landfills. Operators establish processes which maintain safety on the site including implementing safe driving routes, keeping vehicle speeds to a minimum, and containing debris on-site all contribute to increased safety of the plant. Containing debris on-site helps to reduce risks to traffic on the external roadways adjacent to the site. Landfill site operators across the country are turning to FODS as an effective solution which can minimize vehicle sediment tracking and increase site safety while reducing labor and maintenance costs.
